Old and New Cars: Log Cabin Cruize Night May 31st 2023

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

[Editor's Note: Normally I don't cut into Fox's writing, but for this post I'll use lots of these brackets, simply because Gemlord cars work differently than ours. I haven't figured it out to the full extent yet, but enough to help you, the reader, understand some of the differences. Also note that Fox translates his own words to English with limited knowledge, and I like to leave some of that unedited for character.]

Hey, Fox here!

So Ma took me up to something that I really wish happened more in Emerald City, car nights, meets, shows, whatever translates best to English. It's a pretty big thing in the area, and maybe we'll get to show the Civic someday, since you can just park and walk around for a while. We both forgot to take note of what each car was exactly... whoops. I'm not that good with human cars. This is gonna be a picture loaded one, so get ready.

A link Log Cabin's website for more information here.

The Log Cabin has an inactive Instagram page, [granted I never use mine either] but they do have this awesome photo of a Z28 and it makes me think of my mother so, enjoy.

I'm gonna start by noting that we're blocking plate numbers and faces to be respectful to the car's owners and visitors. And that it was hard to take good photos on a phone, hopefully it'll still be running when Ma gets a camera for her photography class. I'd love some nice edited photos.

I'll do be the big dump of unidentified or single photo cars first. There was a lot happening and it was our first visit in years, so we weren't sure what to expect. Will say I was very happy to spot a yellow Camaro like mine. Didn't get a picture but they'd put the same model Ma has on her desk on the engine, was very funny.

For what information we have on each car, scroll over the image. Ma's mom was so shocked that Subaru made sport cars (WRX and BRZ). When asked why, she answered "You can't put anything in the back of that thing. I need a Subaru that loves me back." That was hilarious.

Now, this is a tangent, but I'm adding it anyways. Y'all hear that Chevy is killing the Camaro? 2024 is gonna the last year. I mean, we Gemlords have knowledge of your future but I didn't realize the Camaro got ditched this early. I'm gonna be so sad. We need to get Ma a Camaro and this'll make it so much harder. Dodge is getting rid of their, what is it, the Challenger, too. I won't ever get it. Our cars aren't EVs like yours, we have [Editor's note: he starts writing in Gemlord here, and I don't have enough in my conlang dictionary to translate it. Basically, Gemlords have obtained nuclear fusion, and have made it efficient enough to power cars. Remember, they're 94,000+ years ahead of us.] Basically, what I'm saying is, this is a dumb move. So glad Warrior won't be killing the Dawn any time soon. [This is Gemlord's equivalent of our Chevrolet Camaro. Fox drives one of these as his first and most valued car.]

A large red Infinti car, with wheels much bigger than average. It lifts the car high off the ground.

Here's this wild Infiniti I wanted to give it's own section, because holy Sapphire what is going on with that thing? I love my Dawn, ok, but not so much that I'd boost it off the ground, have to alter the wheel wells- and it's not even like a sporty Infiniti. I'm just so lost, y'all.

Here's the Honda portion of this post. The first one actually has an Instagram, I'll link here. Looks like the owner has or has had lots of other sporty Japanese cars. Wasn't sure if it was an Si, but we know it is now. VTEC, Ma has told me, is a performance upgrade for Hondas of all kinds.

Next are the two Preludes. I wish these were still around, because they're so cool. They remind me of one of Hikari's models. Oh, right. Hikari is a car brand here on Gemlord made in Quartz that blew up when human styled cars got popular. I know they were copying Japanese cars but I guess they were also borrowing a popular Japanese name for their brand. Anyways, the Hikari model looks similar to the Prelude. Here's the two we saw.

Now here's another Civic, probably an 04 or 05. I'm not loving that spoiler, but you got any opinions on it? Is it too tall? My deal is if the spoiler is taller than the middle of the back window it's too tall. It's like a glorified handle. You think it hits the back window when the trunk opens? The lights are super cool though. It's got a little Corvette or a Lamborghini on the dash, which is just kind of funny.

Sadly, the Instagram handle for this car doesn't lead anywhere that we could find. I've never seen an FIT done up like this. Pretty cool though, feels like a kind of JDM I'm not really aware of.

Staying in Japan, here's a wild one. In this gallery you'll see images of this car at Ma's college and images of it at the show. The "Invalid Impreza" as Ma started to call it just happened to be at the show. Note that The Log Cabin is a good half hour from Monroe Community College. Where this person is coming from, who knows. But the fact that we ran into it is very funny. I don't love the Playboy bunny, but that's my ✨ trauma ✨ talking, probably. The clown is just hilarious, he really just to be vibing there. "No, I don't vape" is certainly a choice, since in New York you shouldn't be putting plates on your dash. And to risk it with "No, I don't vape?" You gotta really need to reassure people you don't vape. Don't vape, just don't. The spikes are also wild, since they're supposed to help airflow and increase speed. But human cars don't like, go over 100mph normally, right? On Gemlord, we travel much faster than y'all do, and much safer. So those would be useful. Anyway, this car is so personalized it warms my heart. We didn't get to see the owner, maybe we'll see them again. It'd be nice to chat, say hi to a fellow student.

Another Subuwu (sorry, I had to,) that we see often, this one belongs to someone who lives right down the road from us. Ma sees it on her way to work all the time, and I honestly love the blue tinted windows. Might do that on my Aster [Corvette] cuz it'll match the blue I had it painted really well. Anyway, we didn't get to see the owner of this one either, but I love the old wagon styled Foresters and Outbacks. We didn't get a great picture, but you can see the handle for the transmission is a gas pump handle. It's a real one. That's just wild. We had no idea it was in there, and now we know. You really gotta have guts for that one.

Now let's visit Europe. Ma nor I are huge Euro fans, but we still found these guys pretty cool. Here's an old Porsche and the back of an old Volvo. Didn't really get a chance to find out more about them, but they're cool and worth mentioning!

Here are some old Volkswagens. I love the GTI with the red accents. I have to wonder what the cage in the back is for, maybe racing? I think roll cages are supposed to protect from, well rolling. Looks pretty cool though. The car in the first image is a Scirocco, which Ma's father was super excited to see. He said his first auto mechanic professor had one, and because American cars were bogged down by fuel and emission stuff, that made the VW faster than a Mustang. That's wild.

Here's an Audi with some sort of rig to hold a dirt bike of some kind. I have no idea why someone would do it, especially to an Audi. Those are expensive cars. But yea, it's been drilled into and everything, I just- why? And it has dealer plates??? I'm very confused. But here it is anyways.

Now for some American cars. Here's a Ford Galaxie, honestly, I'm not a huge Ford person, but this one is just so pretty. I wanna ride in it. It's got historical plates on it too, so it's only able to go to shows.

This Corvette will be the last car I cover today; it's taken a long time to make this post. But I have more photos if you'd like to see them! The wonderful woman whose husband owns the car, was so nice to talk to. She explained that the new Stingrays have six modes, Sport, Tour, Track, Weather, MyMode, and Z-Mode. Not sure what each one is, but it sounds like lots of fun. We spent a lot of time walking with the woman, and she was so sweet.

If I had more time, I would talk about every single car I could. Just wanted to thank you all for reading and hope you have a good day!

Signing off,

Fox Alfred.
