Hey, it's Rosetta Famellette! Welcome to my site! I figured it'd make sense to make an introduction post adding more details to the About page on the site, but also what I plan to blog about.
I've been dubbed the mom friend by my friends and am often called "Ma." If you know an Amethyst Walker on Discord or other sites, hi, you've found me. That's a screen name I still use, and is based off of a self-insert Ninjago fan-fiction character called Amethyst Walker. If you're unsure of what the series is, here's a link to the Wikipedia page. If you watched the series, comment your favorite. Cole's existence helped me realize I was biromantic, so thanks Cole.
Anyway, Amethyst. She had cool wind and earth powers, held within an amulet made of- say it with me- ✨ amethyst. ✨ I was like, 13, it was the best I had. Amethyst had friends Aquamarine, Ruby, and Emerald, who had similar amulets with the same gemstones as their names, each holding unique powers. After using their gemstone amulets for so long, the power formed crystal around their heart, making the power imbedded in them and the use of the amulets obsolete. And through a number of convoluted role-plays with a friend, I had evolved these three characters (Aquamarine left the story due to the actual person related to her and I having a rocky friendship) into a race of people with magic abilities with gem coats around their hearts. And Gemlord was born! The remnants of this are visible in Gemlord now; Emerald had mind abilities as one of her powers. Now all green gems have mind abilities. Amethyst had earth abilities- purple gems have earth abilities. Gemlord was also built up by a large role-play in a role-play based server I used to run. The server is still up and running, as far as I know, and will be 5 years old in 2023. I ran it for 4 years, it was time for a rest. But without the people in that server, I wouldn't have Gemlord's world building or Fox for that matter. He was originally going to be more like James, but that changed as I role-played his character. I'll dedicate Fox's novel, among others, to the person who helped make him- I owe that guy a lot.
Now, more about me.
Firstly, cats. My family has four cats.
Flint is the oldest of the group. We adopted him from a feral colony across the street. Well, he just walked in the house, slipped in when we were going inside.
We shrugged and said; "I guess he lives here now."
We got him the proper medical care, of course. He's named for a small black spot on his side that looked like a piece of flint when he was younger.
Next came Carl. Originally, his name was Earl, as in earl gray tea. But when he was put up for adoption, his name was heard as "Carl" over the phone. So much for having a litter of cats with tea themed names. Carl is the second oldest of the bunch, sporting a regal face and a case of head empty no thoughts.
Then there's Ares. We adopted his mother, Tiffany, off the streets. Once we'd let her into our home, we realized she was pregnant. We decided to let her have her first and only litter. Ares was born April 15th, 2018. I took special interest in him, and begged my parents to let me keep him. They said yes, and I paid for his vetting. He's named after his zodiac sign; Aries. I went with the Roman god because I thought it was cooler. Unfortunately, we lost Tiffany a few years back. She lives on through her son.
The fourth cat in our family is Shamus, our youngest. When working with a trap neuter return (TNR) group, they asked us to foster lots of kittens. However, they had a hard time finding homes for some of them. Shamus was a feral from a trailer park colony who stole our hearts. He's still a little shy, but mellowing out as he ages. He found his home with us. He still had his ear tipped, something done for all feral cats to help TNR programs know that the cat is already fixed. I think it gives him personality.
Also, here are some of my crystals. ✨
If I could have any car, I'd have a 70's Pontiac Firebird and in gold and black. Hence the flash fiction piece on the home page. I think they're the most stunning cars, and Pontiacs remind me of my grandparents. They had a white Pontiac Vibe from the 2000s, and I remember the joy of watching it pull into the driveway when I was young.
However, my own experience with a 2008 Vibe looks like this...
I collided with a Fed Ex truck a week after I passed my driver's test. Ouch. Poor guy was considered totaled by insurance, and luckily no one in the car got hurt. Scrambling to get a car before I started college, my father found lots of cars on Craigslist. We drove and looked at a lot of them, but only one really struck us both as a good car.
A 2003 Honda Civic LX. I hated the paint color, but for $3,000 we weren't gonna turn it down. Now I've had my little guy for two years, and grown attached. My father and I plan to improve the performance and the looks, but it'll stay that color I despise... for now. Anyway, I've talked too much. Here's what I'll be posting.
What I'll Post
This blog is basically to log my ramblings, lore that don't fit on the Gemlord page, and my progress as a writer. When I have a good novel draft or something, you know? Maybe I'll even post small previews. But I'll also do something fun; post as Fox and Castiel. Why? Because I think it's fun. Obviously they're not real people, but it's fun to post as them. What they say will mostly be non-canon, because I tend to imagine them as people in my head seeing my day. So they might comment on that stuff, or their own lives. But if something is canon, it'll probably be confirmed on a lore based blog post. I'll also post my art! When I feel like sharing, I'll ramble about the meaning behind my art and whatnot.
Well, I think that's all from me! Thanks for reading,
Rosetta 💖
