Hey everyone, first art post!
I'm super excited about this project, to be honest. I had drawn out Fox's plates after realizing I could have custom plates made on Etsy. These are the plates on his beloved Camaro. They're just basic plates, ones issued by the city.
Gemlord cities tend to work like states or provinces do. Basically, large cities (Emerald City, Citrine City, The Quartz District, Ruby Villa, etc) have a jurisdiction of a certain, large piece of land. That city's laws apply like state laws do in the US. So Emerald City, where Fox lives, would issue these plates. I had to figure out what important land mark there was, and I based it off the newest NYS plates, with the minimalist cityscape. So, here's the digital design.
Considering this is way out of my normal skill set, it turned out pretty good. I worked with the seller to be sure the text would fit within the mounting holes. The seller was super willing to work with me, and I appreciate that.
In terms of lore, these are just buildings in the Hills, the most affluent part of Emerald City. Think of it is as a gated community, except there's a part of the city that's completely gated. The building in the middle is the Center for Music and Arts, a huge museum that covers the history of music, art, film, TV, writing, and other forms of creativity in Emerald City. It also has programs providing workshops, learning experiences, and other educational services to patrons. I figured the city would feature it (and the surrounding buildings) because they're proud of it. Here's the real plate.
The lighting doesn't do it justice, I also used very bright colors that I didn't expect to translate perfectly. The plate came in perfect condition and they're aluminum, granted much thinner than real plates. This is going on my wall, and not my Civic, so I don't need heavy duty quality. I'm super happy with it, here's a link to the listing if you're interested. I'd totally design another plate, or have other Emerald City plates made with the existing template, if I ever wanted to. I'm impressed that I have the art skills to pull something like this off, and that it could be printed onto metal and sent to me. I'm excited to put it on my wall.
